Uploading new maps: 1. Download a map, save or run - doesn't make any difference - depending on whether you want the install program or the zip/rar file on your hard drive or not. 2. Make a folder on your C: drive - call it "Maps for upload" 3.Install the map into Maps for upload folder (maps will come as an .exe, .zip, or .rar) It will make files and folders within your "Maps for upload" folder - it's just like installing a new map to your dod folder. Sometimes maps come with a .res (resources) file, sometimes not. The .res file tells the game what files need to be included in the download of the map for the game. If there is a .res file, open with wordpad or notepad and check to make sure all files that the res file refer to are present. If they are all present, then upload the files to the server - should be ok. After upload - delete all files from your "Maps for upload" folder. If there is not a .res file: Download resmaker.exe or resgen.exe (google it) run resmaker, on the "Maps for upload" folder (unless the map program put a "dod" folder in the Maps for upload folder, then run it on the dod folder). Resmaker will gather all the names of the files from within the folder and put a .res file in the maps folder. Make sure there is a .res file in the maps folder. Open the .res file and make sure all files are listed. Login with your login/password Then upload to the server. FTP with an ftp program or, ftp through Windows Explorer works best for me. I open one window on the lower left on my computer files and one on the upper right on the server folders. That way I can see I am "uploading" to the server by dragging from my machine and dropping into the proper folder on the server - this just makes sense to me. There are folders within the "Maps for upload" folder that match the folders on the server. Drag the folders to the server's dod folder. It will put everything where it belongs. Alternatively, open the maps folder on both your machine and the server and drag the files one by one from your machine to the server, placing them in the same named folder. You can also upload through Mammoth's Game Panel, although I find it slower, but probably more accurate as you have to think through each and every file upload. Caution: when uploading files one by one, it's very easy to get distracted and miss one which will screw up your whole day. Always double check that you are putting the files where they belong. Make sure you don't for instance put a map folder inside the map folder. If a file is already on the server, it will ask if you want to upload the new one (overwriting the old one), or keep the old one. Compare the file sizes of the two files and make a decision. If they are the same size, then they are probably the same file, so either overwrite or not - either is fine. If the files are different sizes, I usually keep the larger file as that's more than likely a better resolution or more detailed model or sprite, etc. With no one on the server, change to that map to make sure it works. If the server hangs, restart and holler at someone who cares. OK, if everything works: dl the mapcycle.txt file from the /dod/ folder on the server and insert the name, i.e. dod_avalanche, wherever you want, save it and upload back to the /dod/ folder. dl the map.ini from the /dod/addons/amxmod/configs folder, insert the name (in the same order as in the mapcycle.txt), save it and upload back to the server.
